Bouffalant is a bovine with a large dark afro and two curving horns bearing golden rings. Shaggy brown hide leaves the face bare, with yellow eyes and a hump on its back.

Lifestyle
Highly territorial, it headbutts anyone who enters its land. The more hair it has, the higher its rank in a herd of twenty.
In the anime
Alder's Bouffalant faces Ash's Pikachu, but Alder falls asleep, so nobody wins. As a child, Trip saw it and wanted to become a Trainer.
Name origin
Takao Unno based it on the American bison, with horns closer to the African buffalo. The afro echoes a bison's hair. Bouffalant may combine bouffant and buffalo.
