Its story

Appearance

Deerling is a fawn with a peach belly and a yellow tuft hiding small antlers. Its back shifts from pink to green, orange, then brown with the seasons.

Lifestyle

Timid in herds, it hides in grass, then headbutts anyone who feeds it. It evolves into Sawsbuck.

In the anime

In the Victini movies, Ash and Victini save two Spring Form Deerling from falling off a cliff.

Name origin

Designed backwards from Sawsbuck, it may be a sika deer fawn with a yellow flower. Deerling blends deer with darling or yearling.

Did you know?

In spring its scent is delicate, sweet, and calming; in autumn, softly sweet.
Its scentless Winter Form is the only one missing from the animated series.
Despite its cute look, it eats crop shoots, so farmers guard fields with Lycanroc.
