Its story

Appearance

It is round, green, and shapeless. A black diamond marks its back, a yellow tuft shorter on females tops its head, and its eyes usually stay closed.

Lifestyle

It swallows anything its own size in one gulp; a special acid digests almost anything and releases foul gas. It lives in grasslands and savannas, and evolves into Swalot.

In the anime

A Trainer once left it after a hug, so an embrace means being abandoned. Near Volcanion, it later helps Clemont free Ash.

Name origin

Its round body and gases suggest a stomach or a slug. Gulpin may come from gulping or from gulp in.
