Its story

Appearance

Shelmet looks like a snail in a gray shell shaped like a knight's visor, with a spiral behind it. Its pink body has a long puckered mouth and green marks under its eyes.

Lifestyle

It closes its helmet and spits a poisonous sticky fluid, but Karrablast can open it. It lives in bogs and swamps, and evolves into Accelgor.

In the anime

Bianca's Shelmet quickly lost to Elesa's Zebstrika. Traded for Professor Juniper's Karrablast, it evolved.

Name origin

Shelmet may come from shell and helmet. It mixes a snail, sometimes one with an iron shell, and a close helmet, like medieval drawings of giant snails.

Did you know?

Shelmet and Accelgor are the only Bug-type Pokémon not based on arthropods.
Shelmet and Karrablast are the only ones that must be traded with each other to evolve.
Despite the same armor, Shelmet stays a pure Bug type, while Escavalier gains the Steel type.
