Appearance
Altaria is a blue bird covered in fluffy white feathers that form its cloud-like wings, often folded behind its back. Two long blue plumes stream from its head, and its short hooked beak is white.

Affectionate, it wraps trusted people in its wings, but if provoked its shrill cries turn merciless. It evolves from Swablu, lives in forests and mountains, and can Mega Evolve.

Winona’s Altaria loses to Ash’s Grovyle, while Drake’s defeats that same Grovyle. Drasna’s Mega Evolves against Ash, and Lisia calls hers Ali.
Name origin
Its design suggests a bluebird, a Chinese cloud dragon, or a cockatiel. The name blends alto and aria, suiting its song, and echoes the star Altair.
