Appearance
Basculin is a green fish with an oval body, a black stripe on its back, and a white dorsal fin with four spikes. Three forms have a red, blue, or pale-blue stripe, with different fins and eyes.

Lifestyle
Extremely violent, it fights on sight for territory. The red and blue forms are aggressive; the Hisuian white form is gentle and schools in cold seas.
In the anime
Cilan caught a Blue-Striped Basculin during a fake fishing contest set up by Team Rocket. A Frillish released it. Iris fished another by hand and was penalized.
Name origin
Basculin may come from bass and masculine. Created late for Unova, it is based on the bass, a wild fish in New York.
