Appearance
Bayleef is a pale yellow reptile with a long neck, a short snout, and a stubby tail, like an Apatosaurus. Curled leaves form a collar, and a large green leaf grows on its forehead.

Its story
Lifestyle
A young shoot hidden in its collar gives off a spicy scent that invigorates even Pokémon sleeping nearby. It evolves from Chikorita into Meganium and rarely lives in grasslands.
In the anime
Ash's Chikorita became a Bayleef while protecting him from Team Rocket. She kept her old personality at first, then gradually mellowed.
Name origin
Bayleef comes from bay leaf, a cooking herb with a strong smell. The plant side recalls bay laurel, whose oil heals and stimulates.
