Description

« In battle, Chikorita waves its leaf around to keep the foe at bay. However, a sweet fragrance also wafts from the leaf, becalming the battling Pokémon and creating a cozy, friendly atmosphere all around. »

Its story

Appearance

Chikorita is small, pale green, and walks on four legs. It has a big head, red eyes, dark green buds around its neck, and a large green leaf on its head.

Lifestyle

Gentle and docile, it lives in grasslands. The leaf on its head smells sweet, calms battles, and helps it find a warm place to sunbathe. It evolves into Bayleef, then Meganium.

In the anime

Ash caught one that loved him so much she sometimes refused to be switched out for Pikachu. She evolved into Bayleef while protecting him from Team Rocket.

Name origin

Chikorita may blend chicory and the Spanish suffix -ita, for something small. It looks like a small sauropod, a pear, or Belgian endive.
