It forms coal and coal tar inside its body, moves faster than 18 mph, and breathes flames hotter than 1,800 °F. It evolves from Rolycoly into Coalossal.

In the animated series, a Carkol lives on the Brave Olivine. In the engine room it runs in a wheel for energy and feeds the ship's furnace.
Name origin
Its design appears to be a mine cart filled with coal. Carkol may combine car, cart, carbon, and coal or charcoal.
