Appearance
Charizard is an orange bipedal dragon with a cream belly, blue-green wings, horns, and fangs. A tall flame burns at the tip of its tail and turns blue when it is annoyed.

Its story
Lifestyle
It flies in search of worthy opponents and never turns its breath on anyone weaker than itself. Its fire burns hotter with experience; it lives in groups in volcanoes and mountains.
In the anime
Ash's Charizard, caught as a Charmander, evolves to face an Aerodactyl, then refuses to obey. It later becomes Charla's bodyguard, and affection grows between them.
Name origin
It is the favorite Pokémon of its designer, Atsuko Nishida. Charizard may blend "to char" (to burn) and "lizard."
