Appearance
Chinchou is a small, round blue fish with large yellow eyes like plus signs and pale blue fins. Two antennae each end in a yellow teardrop orb.

Lifestyle
Its orbs lure prey, signal other Chinchou, and claim territory. It stuns foes with electricity. It lives on the dark seafloor and evolves into Lanturn.
In the anime
Dayton’s Chinchou, including one named Bright, debut in a parade for newborns migrating from the mountains to the ocean.
Name origin
It resembles an anglerfish, the footballfish. Chinchou may come from chōchin, “lantern,” with its vowel sounds reversed.
