Its story

Appearance

A quadruped like a stag and a goat, with aqua-blue fur on a body said to be steel. Jagged yellow horns like thunderbolts, fin-like shoulder growths, a white cravat tuft, and large black hooves.

Lifestyle

A leader from birth, it calms the fiercest foes and forms an energy blade from its head. With the Swords of Justice, it is said to have protected Pokémon from humans, whom it distrusts.

In the anime

In the film, it stars alongside Terrakion, Virizion, Kyurem, and Keldeo, and speaks to them through telepathy.

Name origin

Takao Unno designed it with Terrakion and Virizion, after Athos, the oldest and de facto leader of the Three Musketeers. Cobalion blends cobalt with champion.
