Its story

Appearance

Volcarona is a large moth-like Pokémon with six orange wings spotted black and four small feet. Two red horn-like structures flank its mixed blue compound eyes.

Lifestyle

It releases burning scales that drown the field in a sea of fire. It evolves from Larvesta, is worshiped in cold regions, and disliked in hot ones because its body burns.

In the anime

Ash, his friends, and Brycen stop the hunter Rizzo from catching it. Brycen beats Rizzo's Jellicent with Beartic, then frees Volcarona. A Shiny Larvesta also evolves into it.

Name origin

Ken Sugimori first gave it four wings, then six so it would look more powerful. Volcarona may blend volcano or Vulcan with corona.
