Appearance
Cottonee is white and round, with tufts on its head and underside and orange eyes. Furled leaves edge its sides, and a green star behind it recalls where a plant joins its fruit.

Its story
Lifestyle
So light that the wind carries it, it stays down only when rain soaks it, then dries under a tree. Threatened, it shoots cotton to escape, and it evolves into Whimsicott.
In the anime
A male chases a female who rejects him for being weak. Ash and his friends help him grow stronger, then join a mass migration of the species.
Name origin
Atsuko Nishida designed it with its evolution: a cotton ball, a sheep, and windblown dandelion seeds. Cottonee may come from cotton, cottony, and wee, meaning small.
