Its story

Appearance

Crawdaunt is a mostly red crustacean with a tan belly and a lobster-like tail. A star crowns its forehead, two blue stripes mark its throat, and its large pincers are spiked.

Lifestyle

Very violent, it constantly challenges others in ponds, and not even a Basculin swarm can drive it off. It evolves from Corphish.

In the anime

Team Aqua Grunts command several from its first appearance on, then throughout the Ruby and Sapphire series.

Name origin

Its look suggests the red swamp crayfish, but its size is closer to a lobster. Crawdaunt may blend crawdad or crawfish with daunt or taunt.

Did you know?

Unlike the claw meat of Crabrawler and Clauncher, its pincers smell and taste foul.
If it loses its pincers, it stays timid until they grow back.
The Chinese word for lobster, dragon shrimp, may be why it learns Dragon Dance.
