Its story

Appearance

Dartrix is an owl-like bird, mostly white, with a heart-shaped face and a dark brown head and back. Uneven green leaves frame its face; two smaller ones look like a bow tie.

Lifestyle

Alert and vain, it can strike behind itself and may leave battle to preen if dirty. It evolves from Rowlet into Decidueye.

In the anime

Hau's Dartrix first beats Ash's Rowlet, then loses the next day's rematch to Bloom Doom. It later evolves into Decidueye.

Name origin

Its design draws on barn owls, especially Hawaii's, the region behind Alola. Dartrix may blend dart with Strix, a genus of owls, or with tricks.
