It becomes an exact copy of any object or living thing, form and properties included. It stays elastic, sleeps as a rock, and never strays far from people.
In the anime
Duplica's Ditto could not change its face, then succeeds just as Team Rocket captures it. Drake uses one against Ash's Pikachu at Pummelo Stadium.
Name origin
Ditto means "the same," a nod to this gift for copying.
