Its story
Lifestyle
Gentle, it ferries people and travels while singing from polar to tropical seas. Hunting nearly drove it extinct; once protected, it sometimes strains fish Pokémon.
In the anime
Ash's young Lapras is saved from three thugs and from Team Rocket. It travels the Orange Islands, returns to its family, and later becomes their leader.
Name origin
Ken Sugimori designed it. In the English beta it was called Ness, after the Loch Ness Monster, and an early sketch without curly ears appeared in the Capsule Monsters pitch.
