Appearance
Dratini is a blue serpentine reptile with a white belly. A white bump on its forehead is a growing horn, with three-pronged fins and purple eyes.

Its story
Lifestyle
It never stops growing, sheds often, and hides behind a fast waterfall while its new skin is soft. It lives in swift water and evolves into Dragonair, then Dragonite.
In the anime
Clair's Dratini debuts in Beauty is Skin Deep: Team Rocket fails to steal it, and it evolves into Dragonair. Later, Ash's Dragonite briefly devolves into a Dratini.
Name origin
Its name blends dragon with teeny, tiny, or mini. Designed by Atsuko Nishida, it recalls sea serpents, lucky dragons, and the Loch Ness Monster, long thought a myth.
