It evolves from Eevee. A flame chamber sets its heat; it breathes fire around 3,000 °F, roasts its food, and is mostly seen in populated places.
In the anime
It debuts with Pyro, targeted by Team Rocket. Virgil's defeats Cameron's Lucario in the Vertress semifinals.
Name origin
Motofumi Fujiwara designed it from the fox, the lion, and long-haired cats. Flareon may combine flare with eon, the shared Eeveelution suffix.
Did you know?
- When excited, its temperature can run from about 1,300 to 1,700 °F.
- To avoid overheating, it fluffs its collar and lets the heat out.
- The heat leaving its fur is thought to let it sleep comfortably.
