Its story

Appearance

Helioptile is a small pale yellow lizard with black feet and a pointed tail. The top of its head is black, with a yellow triangle, blue eyes, and a frill on each side.

Lifestyle

In sunlight its frills make electricity, so it can live without food in the desert. It evolves into Heliolisk with a Sun Stone, the only Pokémon not Grass-type to do so.

In the anime

Alexa's Helioptile is a close companion that often climbs onto her back. With Gogoat, it was one of the first two Generation VI Pokémon shown in the series.

Name origin

The main model is the frilled lizard. Helioptile joins the ancient Greek hḗlios, "sun", and reptile.
