Ho-Oh suggests a peacock and a phoenix. Its plumage is gold and red, with a white underside, a yellow tail, green wingtips, a yellow beak, and red eyes ringed in black.

Lifestyle
Its prismatic wings paint a rainbow, and anyone who sees it is promised eternal happiness. After the Brass Tower fire, it restored life to Suicune, Raikou, and Entei.
In the anime
At the end of the first episode, Ash sees it fly beside a rainbow. It is the first Legendary Pokémon in the series.
Name origin
The design points to China's Fenghuang. The palindromic name comes from Hōō and may also echo the word for king.
