Highly intelligent, it hides deep underwater and usually sleeps alone, wary of its power. A light flutter of its wings can tear down a house.
In the anime
It is central to the Shamouti Island legend and speaks to humans by telepathy. Silver's parent saves Ash, Misty, and Brock from a whirlpool.
Name origin
Lugia may come from ancient Greek arguros, "silver," a nod to the Silver version. First imagined as a creator of life, it became guardian of the seas.
