Appearance
Houndstone is a large skeletal dog with shaggy whitish-gray fur, light purple at the base, over its head, eyes, and humped back. A tombstone-like growth rises from its head.

Lifestyle
Tied to mourning, it is the most loyal of all dog Pokémon: one lovingly mourned, or that spent years guarding its master's gravestone, may be reborn as Houndstone. It evolves from Greavard.
In the anime
In the animated series, it belongs to Ryme, who sends it into battle against Roy.
Name origin
Kazuyuki Kurashima designed Houndstone and Greavard after the Catalan Sheepdog and depictions of the undead. Its English name may combine hound and headstone.
Did you know?
- It spends much of its time buried in graveyards, so only its tombstone shows above ground.
- It lives mainly in boreal mountains and is one of the few Pokémon lighter than Greavard.
- Beneath the fur, its legs and tail seem to float, unconnected to any torso.
