Appearance
Illumise is a black bipedal firefly: blue face, large slanted eyes with purple corners, purple curls, tiny yellow antennae. A yellow neck bib, purple limb borders, small wings, and three rear spots complete it.

This female-only, nocturnal forest Pokémon lures Volbeat with sweet scents so they draw patterns in the sky. More complex designs earn respect; over two hundred patterns are known.
In the anime
It debuts on screen in Juliet's care. With five Volbeat, it also performs in a May Festival show.
Name origin
Illumise is based on a firefly and on 1920s flappers: purple bobbed hair and a bold black outfit with purple cuffs. The name may blend illuminate and luciferase.
