Its story
Lifestyle
Its leaf lets it float and ferry smaller Pokémon. It rarely lives on land, gathers on clean lakes, and evolves into Lombre, then Ludicolo.
In the anime
Sisters Natalie, Nicole, and Rita give Brock a slow Lotad that sometimes stares blankly. It later becomes a Lombre, then a Ludicolo.
Name origin
It draws on the lily pad and the kappa, a Japanese spirit with a water dish on its head and a beak. Lotad may blend lotus with tadpole.

- The leaf on its head stays clean despite mud, but wilts if it dries out.
- Forsythia's Lotad alone knows her shy Roserade secretly guards the Berry garden.
