Its story

Appearance

Machoke is bipedal with blue-gray skin. Its face looks reptilian, with red eyes and three ridges. A black-and-gold belt holds its huge muscles in check.

Lifestyle

Modest despite its strength, it helps with physical work and trains in the mountains. Its steel-hard muscles lift a huge load with one finger. It evolves from Machop into Machamp.

In the anime

Chuck used one against Ash. It nearly defeated Bayleef, then lost.

Name origin

Its design mixes a bodybuilder or wrestler with reptilian traits. Machoke blends macho, meaning manly, with choke.

One official handbook calls it narcissistic, the opposite of Pokémon Stadium, which says it is always modest.
It removes its belt only before a truly powerful opponent.
