Its story
Lifestyle
It hates the cold and is born near active volcanoes, its body near 1,200 °C. It evolves from Magby into Magmortar.
In the anime
It debuts with Blaine, who uses it against Ash. Paul's Magmar later becomes a Magmortar.
Name origin
It suggests a booby or a duck combined with a mythical fire salamander, or the fire-breathing Karura. Magmar may blend magma and fulmar.

- Soaking in lava heals its wounds and weariness.
- It often burns its prey without meaning to and is feared as a cause of fires.
