Lifestyle
Its wool stores electricity and shocks anyone who touches it. Gentle, it lives in grassy fields and evolves into Flaaffy, then Ampharos.
In the anime
Several Mareep appear with Mary and her mother Ellen. Mary's own is nicknamed Fluffy.
Name origin
Mareep may blend Mary, from Mary Had a Little Lamb, with sheep, and is an anagram of ampere. It is based on a sheep and wool's static charge.

- In summer its coat is shed, then grows back within a week.
