Its story
Lifestyle
It remakes its cells while waiting to evolve and hardly moves. In groups in temperate forests and jungles, it can only harden its shell if found.
In the anime
Ash caught his as a Caterpie. As a Metapod it could only harden its shell, so its battle with Samurai's lasted hours until Beedrill arrived.
Name origin
The design echoes a butterfly chrysalis, possibly the green, pointed cabbage white. Metapod joins metamorphosis and pod, a shell that holds seeds.
