Mimikyu is a Ghost / Fairy-type Pokémon, No. 778 in the National Pokédex, introduced in Generation 7 (Alola region).

Description

« There was a scientist who peeked under Mimikyu’s old rag in the name of research. The scientist died of a mysterious disease. »

Its story

Mimikyu hides nearly all of its body under an old rag that copies Pikachu. The face is drawn in crayon, and a shapeless fringe shows under the hem.

Silent and lonely, it dresses as Pikachu to make friends, but the cloth only makes it creepier. Sunlight makes it sick, so it lives in the dark.

Jessie's Mimikyu joins Team Rocket after seeing Ash's Pikachu and flying into a rage. Jessie properly catches it afterward.

The costume echoes a bedsheet ghost with a child's crayon face. Its English name may blend "to mimic" and "you."

Without its costume it is only 0.2 m, one of the shortest Ghost-type Pokémon.
A scholar died of shock, a Trainer that same night, and a scientist of a strange illness.
Mimikins, Acerola's Shiny, is a dead Mimikyu: it floats and passes through objects.
