It walks on its hind legs. Still clumsy with a charge, it shocks itself when energy leaks, hard enough to jolt an adult. It evolves into Pikachu.
In the anime
The Pichu Brothers return often. One has a scruff on its ear, like Ash's Pikachu. The series shows that this Pikachu was born a Pichu.
Name origin
Ken Sugimori drew Pichu while Game Freak sought the next Pikachu, using squirrels and other rodents. The name shortens Pikachu: sparkle, a mouse's squeak, and petite.
Did you know?
- When they play, their sparks scare them to tears. They touch tails on purpose to build courage.
- Professor Elm says the form with three ear spikes traveled with Celebi and cannot evolve.
- Even asleep, it leaks a charge. The fuller its cheek sacs, the livelier it is.
