Appearance
Pyroar is a dark brown lion with bright blue eyes. The male has a large red mane streaked with gold; the female, far more common, a gold-and-red crest as long as her body.

Lifestyle
By day, prides on plains and mountains are led by the male with the largest mane. Females raise the Litleo and hunt together; it evolves from Litleo.
In the anime
Lysandre's male Pyroar is usually outside its Poké Ball. Elsewhere, a male forces a Litleo to leave the pride, then lets it live alone.
Name origin
It follows a lion and heraldic lions; the male mane recalls the Gozan no Okuribi fire. Pyroar may join pyro- and roar; Japanese Kaenjishi joins kaen, flame, and shishi, lion.

- Usually lazy, the male will still risk his life for his friends.
- Its mane can pass 2,000 °C and its breath 6,000 °C, yet it eats its meat raw.
