Appearance
Swellow is a large dark-blue bird with a red breast and face. A crest sweeps back, two long red-tipped feathers form the tail, and the wings taper to a point.

Lifestyle
An impressive dive-bomber, it never misses and hunts Wurmple over warm meadows. Proud of its plumage, it often cleans the wings of other Swellow. It evolves from Taillow.
In the anime
Ash's Taillow becomes Swellow during the Crossgate PokéRinger final. Later, it defeats Winona's Shiny Swellow.
Name origin
It evokes the swallow, with a falcon's flight and tail feathers like katanas. Swellow may blend swell and swallow.
