Its story
Lifestyle
Guardian of Ula'ula Island, it commands vegetation to grow and change shape. Peaceful and mostly inactive, it rings its bell to warn others, yet shows no mercy to those who offend it.
In the anime
With the other guardians, it senses the birth of the Cosmog nicknamed Nebby. It later battles Ash's Lycanroc alone, then returns often through Sun & Moon.
Name origin
Tapu Bulu joins the Polynesian word tapu, meaning sacred or forbidden, with bull. The design resembles a bull and a tiki statue, and it may draw on Lono, god of agriculture.
