Appearance
It looks like a baby leatherback sea turtle: a blue body, black spots on the flippers, a black shell with six round hollows and a black mask, plus a light blue patch under the eyes.

Its story
Lifestyle
It lived in the oceans of about 100 million years ago and returns only when revived from fossils. Believed ancestor of most turtle Pokémon, it evolves into Carracosta.
In the anime
As a child sent into the ancient past, Ferris befriended a Tirtouga. Found again as a fossil, stolen and revived by Team Rocket, it evolves into Carracosta and returns to its own time.
Name origin
Its design is a prehistoric sea turtle, either Protostega or Archelon, the two largest known genera of sea turtles. Tirtouga may blend turtle with a corruption of tortuga, Spanish for turtle.
