Its story

Appearance

Toucannon is a black bird with a large toucan beak, longer on top. At rest, the upper beak has four red, orange, and yellow bands, and the mandible is red.

Lifestyle

Gases in the beak can ignite and launch seeds hard enough to shatter boulders. The beak can exceed 100 °C. It evolves from Trumbeak.

In the anime

A wild Toucannon leads a flock of Pikipek that includes a Rowlet. It later lets that Rowlet join Ash's team.

Name origin

The design is based on the toco toucan: heating the beak to fire seeds resembles a cannon. Toucannon may combine toucan and cannon.

Did you know?

As it heats, the beak bands turn red one by one, from the tip toward the base.
They are known for loving couples and are often a good-luck charm at weddings.
To communicate, they strike beaks together: the number and strength of hits show their feelings.
