Its story

Appearance

Twelve starfish-like legs sprout from its small purplish-pink head and hold it in the air. They are light blue above, dark blue below, and end in two orange claws.

Lifestyle

It hunts Corsola on the ocean floor: its legs form a dome against the tides, keep its heat in the cold, and it evolves from Mareanie.

In the anime

A differently colored Toxapex, evolved from a Mareanie, vies with James for the affections of James's Mareanie.

Name origin

It recalls the venomous crown-of-thorns starfish, which eats coral polyps. Toxapex may blend toxic and apex.
