Appearance
Mareanie has a purple stalk-like body and ten light blue tentacles covered in spines, like a starfish. A large yellow spine crowns its head.

Its story
Lifestyle
Overnight it regrows any body part except its head, and poisons prey with the spike on its head. It eats Corsola's branches and evolves into Toxapex.
In the anime
James caught a Mareanie who adores him. Another, a little like him, had a crush on her, then evolved into Toxapex.
Name origin
It is based on the venomous, coral-eating crown-of-thorns starfish, and on a crown. Mareanie combines marine and meanie.
Did you know?
- Its lost limbs taste very bitter, so nobody eats them.
- Called for help by a wild Corsola, it attacks that Corsola.
- It eats broken Pincurchin spines, even at risk of electrocution.
