Calm, it never panics. Its tail senses humidity to predict the weather; it guards its nest in tall trees and evolves into Grovyle, then Sceptile.
In the anime
Professor Birch shows one to May, who refuses it out of fear. Ash's Treecko is protecting an old tree when caught, then becomes Grovyle and Sceptile.
Name origin
Early sketches looked closer to a real gecko. Treecko joins tree and gecko, and recalls the leaf-tailed gecko and the male green anole.

- While asleep it sometimes moves its feet, as if dreaming of climbing.
- A forest spider, Rathalos treecko, was named after it.
