Appearance
Vivillon is a butterfly with a round head, pixelated black eyes, and varied wings that always keep black edges and pixelated markings. Its oval legs end in round hands, with no visible arms.

Lifestyle
It scatters its scales to poison a foe or calm a fighter's spirit, and it is skilled at finding water. Twenty wing patterns depend on climate and terrain; it evolves from Spewpa.
In the anime
Viola's Meadow Pattern Vivillon defeats Ash's Fletchling twice at the Gym. Others evolve from Spewpa that Dolan had targeted.
Name origin
The Meadow Pattern is often the primary form, perhaps because it occurs in France, the region that inspired Kalos. The name is pronounced Vi-vi-yon.
Did you know?
- In Lumiose City in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, every wild Vivillon has the Meadow Pattern.
- The Ocean Pattern never truly appeared: Harper only seemed to fly with those wings, in a Mismagius illusion.
