Appearance
Whirlipede is sealed in a purple, segmented shell ringed with red. Striped horns act as antennae, poisonous barbs flank each segment, and slit-pupil eyes show in the open center.

Its story
Lifestyle
It stays still while storing energy to evolve, yet stabs approaching predators; if provoked, it spins like a wheel and crashes in at about sixty miles an hour. It evolves from Venipede into Scolipede.
In the anime
Burgh's Whirlipede battles Ash in a Gym match and loses to his newly evolved Swadloon. Later, several attack Ash, Ferris, and a Tirtouga that Ferris had befriended.
Name origin
Tomohiro Kitakaze designed it with its line: it suggests centipedes, pill millipedes that curl into a ball, and a rubber tire. Its English name may join whirl with centipede or millipede.
