Appearance
Armaldo is a bipedal, amphibious Pokémon like a mantis shrimp. Grayish-blue plates cover it, and oblong eyes jut from its head. Huge black claws emerge from its yellow chest.

Its story
Lifestyle
In ancient times it lived at the water's edge and dived to hunt. The wings on its back helped it swim, and its thick shell shielded it. Ancestor of some Bug-type Pokémon, it evolves from Anorith.
In the anime
Nando's Armaldo defeated Ash's Staraptor at the Lily of the Valley Conference, then fought Quilava to a double knockout. In a film, another defends a castle and a Kirlia princess.
Name origin
Its design is drawn from Anomalocaris, an ancient marine arthropod, and it shares traits with theropod dinosaurs. Armaldo may blend the Spanish armado, “armored,” with Anomalocaris.
