Its story
Lifestyle
It buries itself in mud with whiskers out to wait for prey; slime shields it and helps it escape, but drying out leaves it weak. It evolves into Whiscash.
In the anime
An episode meant to feature Chōta's Barboach never aired after an earthquake in Japan. It is the only Generation III Pokémon whose Pokédex entry was never shown.
Name origin
It is drawn from the East Asian pond loach, which hides in mud and senses with whiskers. Barboach may blend barbel with loach.
