Its story

Appearance

Binacle looks like a goose barnacle and a hand on an arm, which serves as its head. The brown head has orange cheeks and three long claws. The orange body has a white band.

Lifestyle

Two Binacle always share one gray rock and must cooperate to survive. They hop the rock along by stretching their bodies and eat seaweed on the shore. It evolves into Barbaracle.

In the anime

Locke owns the half he calls Lefty, and his mentor Ed owns the other, Righty. Later, Goh catches one in Kalos.

Name origin

Its shape and the stalk fixed to the rock suggest the goose barnacle. Binacle may blend bi- (“two”), barnacle, knuckle, and binnacle, a ship’s compass housing.

The pair often squabbles; one then leaves to find another rock and another Binacle.
