Lifestyle
Its collar is a sac it inflates to float and deflates to dive. Its tails let it swim and cut seaweed. It lives by the water and evolves into Floatzel.

Dawn trades her male for Ash's Aipom, because he prefers Gym battles to Contests. Every Buizel in the series is male.
Name origin
The design mixes a weasel and a sea otter with flotation gear such as swim rings. Buizel may come from weasel and buoy.
