Appearance
Chansey is a pink, ovoid Pokémon with stubby arms and dark pink feet. A dark pink belly pouch holds one white egg, and three tufts grow on each side of its head.

Its story
Lifestyle
It shares its nutritious eggs with the injured, never with evil hearts. Once slow, it now runs much faster to flee egg hunters. It evolves from Happiny into Blissey.
In the anime
At Pokémon Centers, the Nurse Joys mainly use Chansey. Brock's Happiny becomes Chansey, then Blissey.
Name origin
It suggests luck and elusiveness, plus a medic's role. Chansey may come from chance or chancy. Its egg pouch also recalls an echidna or a marsupial.
Did you know?
- It is a female-only species, with no male counterpart.
- In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, it checks an injured person, then flees once they are healed, without healing them.
- It is believed to sleep holding its egg so the egg does not crack.
