Its story
Lifestyle
Its true self is a broken sword, brought to life by the hatred of people slain long ago. Known as the Sword of Ruin, it controls a hundred tons of snow and plays in avalanches.
Name origin
The name Chien-Pao may join jiàn, “sword,” or bǎojiàn, “treasure sword,” with bào, “leopard,” spelled in Wade–Giles. It suggests a snow leopard, a saber-toothed cat, and the jian.
Did you know?
- Its weasel-like outline recalls the hǔfú, a tiger tally authorizing imperial troop orders.
- With the other ruin treasures, it may reflect Qiongqi, said to eat the righteous.
- Taowu, another Peril with huge tusks, may also have inspired it.
