Appearance
Durant has a steel body in three sections, light and dark gray. Its round head has large red eyes and two round mandibles; six black legs grow from the thorax.

Its story
Lifestyle
They live in territorial colonies and dig maze-like nests through mountains. Against Heatmor they cover themselves in steel and strike with their mandibles.
In the anime
Several Durant accidentally carry off Iris's Axew while gathering food. Later, Goh catches one.
Name origin
Ken Sugimori designed it together with Heatmor. The model is an ant, perhaps the trap-jaw ant. Durant may blend durable, or Latin durus ("hard"), with ant.
Did you know?
- They prefer plants, especially leaves.
- They stop chasing once an intruder is outside the colony.
- The Steel type may keep it vulnerable to its Fire-type rival.
