Dwebble is a Bug / Rock-type Pokémon, No. 557 in the National Pokédex, introduced in Generation 5 (Unova region).

Description

« It first tries to find a rock to live in, but if there are no suitable rocks to be found, Dwebble may move in to the ports of a Hippowdon. »

Its story

Appearance

Dwebble is a small orange Pokémon like a hermit crab, with large pincers and dark oval eyes on stalks. A hook-like tail hides under its gray rock shell.

Lifestyle

It inspects a stone, digs underneath, and carves it with a corrosive spray. If the rock breaks, it will not settle until it finds another. It evolves into Crustle.

In the anime

Cilan catches his after helping it take its shell back from three Dwebble. It later evolves into Crustle against Team Rocket.

Name origin

It is based on a hermit crab, but it lives in a hollowed-out rock rather than a seashell. Dwebble may combine dwell and pebble.

Did you know?

With no livable rock, it moves into a Hippowdon's ports, and the Hippowdon watches over it.
That search for stone makes it a natural enemy of Roggenrola and Rolycoly.
On rare occasions it falls asleep hugging a perfect rock it admired.
